Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cube butter
3/4 cup buttermilk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Grease a cast iron skillet. Mix dry ingredients together. Grate frozen, or very cold, butter into flour mixture and blend with a pastry blender until it is a crumbly mixture. Add buttermilk. Mix minimally until loose and sticky.
Pour dough onto a floured surface and knead a few times, until no longer wet. Roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thick and then fold in half. Cut 10-12 biscuits using a biscuit cutter or glass. (Don't twist when pulling cutter off, it will seal the edges too much. Place close together in the skillet so they rise up instead of out. Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
